Militants attempt to kidnap journalist
Imphal, Feb 9 (PTI) Unidentified militants attempted tokidnap a journalist in Manipur, official and newspaper housessaid today.
The miscreants tried to abduct the sub-editor of A popularvernacular daily, Huiyen Landapao, K Manikanta Singh late lastnight while he was returning home after duty, sources said.
Sources said while Singh was trying to lock the gate,three militants with torchlight tried to kidnap him but thejournalist ran into his home through the backdoor.
A spokesman of All Manipur Working Journalists Union todaycondemned the incident and asked the militants to clarify ifone of Singh''s stories was not liked by them.
He said three suspected militants followed Singh at aroundmidnight while he was returning home and forcibly tried toenter his house while he was closing the gate.
AMWJU spokesman said if Singh''s stories were not liked,they should have issued their version of the story.
Official sources said police would investigate into thisincident.
