MCD to train teachers in basic life support system
New Delhi, Feb 8 (PTI) MCD''s health department will soonimpart lessons on basic life support to teachers in all itsschools.
"How to deal with a school kid if he or she faintson the road or in the school, what to do in the first place ifa person starts bleeding profusely after an accident, how totreat a person if he or she has a sudden epileptic attack inthe bathroom.
"A teacher when well versed on ways to deal with suchcases can propagate it to others, can teach others about basiclife support sysatem and through them many might know. We aimto educate the society about it and we are starting withschool teachers as they are role models," V K Monga, Chairman,Health Committee, MCD, said.
"We have planned to educate the teachers in all ourMCD schools on basic life support where they will be taughtlife-saving techniques in a pre-hospital setting. Theseclasses will begin from March," he said.
There are over 10,000 teachers in all the 1,800 MCDschools.
Basic life support is the level of medical care given topatients with life-threatening illnesses or injuries until thepatient has reached the hospital.
Monga said "it will be a three to four-hour programmeconsisting of both theory and practical clasess. We will havevideo presentatation and will give hands-on training usingmannequin." PTI SWT ACB
