Mayawati orders disciplinary action against officials
Lucknow, Feb 8 (PTI) UP Chief Minister Mayawati todayordered disciplinary action against six officials, includingKanpur divisional commissioner, for laxity in works which cameto light during her surprise inspection of two districts.
"The CM carried out surprise inspections in Kanpur andRamabai Ambedkar Nagar districts to review progress ofdevelopment works, implementation of welfare schemes, state ofessential services and law and order situation," a governmentspokesman said here.
During the review of law and order and welfare schemesMayawati ordered immediate transfer of commissioner of Kanpurdivision, in which both the districts fall, for slacksupervision and laxity in works.
Taking a serious note of poor and incomplete constructionwork in Ambedkar village Niwada Bhaggi in Kanpur, she orderedsuspension and departmental action against the PWD executiveengineer concerned.
Mayawati also ordered suspension and departmental actionagainst tehsildar of Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) whohad not taken charge at new place despite a government order.
She ordered suspension of KDA''s chief engineer andtransfer of the vice-chairman for poor quality of housesconstructed under Kanshiram urban poor housing scheme at aslum in Chunniganj.
The government also ordered transfer of IGP, DIG and SP(city) for inadequate security arrangements during Mayawati''svisit in Kanpur.
"Adequate number of police personnel were not deployed atthe helipad during the CM''s inspection of housing scheme whichwas an indicative of laxity on the part of senior officers,"the spokesman said.
