K'taka's eminent politician MP Prakash no more

Bangalore, Feb 9: A 71-year-old veteran politician, author, theater personality, social activist and former Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka MP Prakash passed away on early Wednesday, Feb 9 in Bangalore. He breathed his last in Manipal hospital.

The JD(S) senior leader Prakash recently joined the Congress party. Prakash was a prominent leader from Lingayat community, he was elected as a MLA for five times. He has directed and acted in number of Kannada plays and acted in a movie.

Prakash's body has been taken to Freedom Park in Bangalore, where it has been kept for public viewing. The final rites will take place in Hadagali in Bellary district.

Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa deeply mourned the death of Prakash and gave condolences to his family.

The state government has declared that all schools and colleges in Bellary district will remain closed on Thursday, Feb 10 as a mark of respect for the late leader.
