Golden ''Rishaba Vahanam'' installed at Meenakshi temple

Madurai, Feb 8 (PTI) A golden ''Rishaba Vahanam'' made of3.5 kg of gold and at a cost of Rs 90 lakh, was installed atSri Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple here.

The temple is only the second in the state to get such astructure, after the Rameswaram temple, Chairman of the Boardof Trustees of Meenakshi temple, Karumuttu T Kannan, said.

The ''Vahanam'' weighs around 500kg and measures seven feetin height and four and a half feet in breadth, he said.

After pujas were perfomed, the ''Vahanam'' was taken on aprocession around the streets. The structure was made by ateam of Government-approved temple architects.
