Five-year-old raped by 29-year-old man

Thrissur, Feb 8 (PTI) A five-year-old girl who wasreturning home after dance class was allegedly raped by a29-year old man inside an autorickshaw, the police said today.

The incident occurred yesterday when the accused, Vinod,husband of the maid who works in the victim''s house, was sentto fetch the girl from the dance school, they said.

The driver of the autorickshaw was not aware of theincident, the police added.

The incident came to light today after the child told herparents. Her father filed a complaint, following which theaccused was arrested, police said.

Vinod has been arrested and booked under Section 376(Rape) read with 511 (Attempt to commit offences punishablewith life imprisonment or other punishment), they said.

He would be produced before a magistrate tomorrow, theyadded.
