Council chamber housing HP assembly gets a face-lift

Shimla, Feb 8 (PTI) The historic council chamberbuilding housing the Himachal Pradesh Assembly is being givena face-lift.

The budget session of Himachal assembly would commenceFebruary 28 and the beautification and renovation works of thethe building which is reminiscent of British era is expectedto be completed before the deadline, Secretary Vidhan Sabha,Goverdhan Singh said.

The entire ceiling is being redone as part of theexcercise which will brighten the look of the majesticbuilding. No major repairs, renovations or beautification hadtaken place in the building after the silver jubileecelebrations of the Vidhan Sabha in 1988 and the buildingneeded attention, he said.

New panelling would also be done at a cost ofRs 20 lakh, he said.
