ARAI to have advanced labs for developing Euro 5/6 technology
Pune, Feb 8 (PTI) In its endeavour to address futureneeds of the automobile sector, the Automotive ResearchAssociation of India (ARAI) has embarked upon a Rs 250-croreexpansion plan under which advanced laboratories will be setup here to develop less polluting Euro 5 and 6 technologies.
"Under the proposed expansion plan, ARAI will be settingup advanced laboratories complimentary to existing facilitiesto develop Euro 5/6 technologies for greener and safervehicles", S M Marathe, director, ARAI told reporters today.
The expansion at ARAI premises has been undertaken underNational Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project(NATRIP) of Department of Heavy Industries, Government ofIndia.
The hill-top land requirement for the expansion whichwould cover advanced safety norms and crash tests ofautomobiles, had been approved after an on-site assessment byForest Advisory Committee of Ministry of Environment andForest (MoEF), Marathe said, seeking to dispel concerns overpossible loss of tree cover in the area.
