Undertrial prisoner escapes from police custody

Erode (TN), Feb 8 (PTI) A 64-year-old undertrial prisonerescaped from Police custody at the railway station here, whilebeing brought to the town in connection with a burglary case,police said today.

A two-member police team was escorting Arumugam fromMallapuram by a train. As the train was entering the ErodeJunction, he jumped out of the coach and escaped late lastnight.

Arumugam was out on bail in the case when he allegedlyran away and was arrested by police in Mallapuram.

On a complaint from the escort police, Railway policehere registered a case and are investigating.
