RSP notches record wagon turn around

Rourkela, Feb 7 (PTI) The Rourkela Steel Plant''straffic and raw material (TRM) department has registered arecord wagon turnaround, since the unit''s inception in themonth of January 2011.

The TRM department, which is able to handle about13,500 railway wagons in a month, comprises wagons ofdifferent shapes and size for bringing in input raw materialand despatching finished products, a company release saidtoday.

In addition, intermediate products from differentdepartments also handled through 335 internal rolling stocksand other rolling stocks like hot metal, ladles, flag cars etcon daily basis.

TRM department is responsible for movement of railwaywagons and internal wagons inside the plant and for bringingin input raw material and despatching finished products.

The department functions like veins and arteries ofthe plant and reaches to the length and width of the plant,thereby catering to all the units.

The department maintains a fleet of 40 locomotivesand operates the same for uninterrupted plant operation thatis critical for integrated steel plant.

Railways has a free time norm for every rake addressedto RSP.

Rakes handed over beyond free time attracts demurrageand so the TRM workforce has steps to deliver the rakes inminimum possible time.
