A Raja caged in CBI custody for 2 more days

New Delhi, Feb 8:Raja is definitely not living the life of a Raja at the moment. After being arrested by the CBI over his involvement in the 2G spectrum scam, a Delhi court on Tuesday extended his remand for two more days. The CBI had asked for a 4 day extension to probe the matter further.

The Former Telecom Minister had caused considerable embarrassment to the ruling UPA government over the telecom scam. The 2G money trail also traveled till the doorstep of the DMK offices in Chennai. There were allegations against DMK Chief M Karunanidhi as well by Janata Party Chief Subramaniam Swamy.

Raja was arrested along with his two aides Former Telecom Secretary Siddharth Behura and Raja's former personal secretary RK Chandolia. Sources revealed that CBI had asked for an extension to establish Raja's link in the money trail that has crossed the Indian shores.

According to a recent declaration by the CBI, they had charged Raja with criminal conspiracy and said that he along with his associates had caused a gross loss of Rs 22,000 crore to the country's exchequer.

The 2G spectrum scam can easily be termed the largest scam the country has seen in recent times. The allocations to Swan Telecom and Unitech seem to be under the scanner.
