Prafulla Samal is new WCD minister in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Feb 7 (PTI) Panchyati Raj MinisterPrafulla Samal was today formally given additional charge ofthe women and child development (WCD) department after PramilaMallik quit the post on Saturday, official sources said.

Samal, who is also in charge of the information andpublic relations (I&PR) department.

Governor M C Bhandare has approved a recommendation inthis regard made by Chief Minister Naveen Patnik. Anotification on reallocation of the department has beenissued.

"I am happy that the chief minister has considered meworth of handling the WCD department. I will work hard tosolve problems in the department and ensure that the women andchildren get good quality food stuff," Samal told reporters.
