Milk producers strike enters second day
Erode, Feb 8 (PTI) The strike called by Tamil Nadu MilkProducers Welfare Association demanding enhanced procurementprice entered its second day today.
The Association had demanded that the Government enhanceprocurement price by Rs five per litre for cow�s milk and Rseight per litre for buffalo''s milk.
Officials said only 10,000 litres of milk was suppliedtoday to the Milk Cooperative Union against the normal 1.50lakh litres.
The milk producers said they would intensify theirstrike. In Kolappalur and in Gobichettipalayam areas in thedistrict, the producers supplied milk to the public free ofcost yesterday and today.
AAVIN authorities said they expected the strike to bewithdrawn within a day or two, as the Government would take"appropriate steps to solve the plight of the milk producers".
