Man shot dead in bus, companion injured

Suri (WB), Feb 7 (PTI) One person was shot dead andhis companion suffered bullet injury when armed men attackedthe duo, as they were on way to court to depose in a murdercase, in a crowded bus at Kirnahar in Birbhum district today.

Police said Tipu Sheikh and his companion were on wayfrom Kirnahar to Bolpur to testify in a murder case when threemen boarded the bus near terminas and shot at Sheikh and hisfriend.

While Sheikh, who was stated to be a supporter ofruling left front coalition member Forward Bloc, died on thespot, his accomplice was admitted to Bolpur SubdivisionalHospital in serious condition.

Police, however, did not confirm that Sheikh was a FBsupporter.

Police got clue about the three assailants from thosepresent at the spot and a manhunt has been launched. PTI CORSUS
