Government to appoint JPC in 2G scam?

New Delhi, Feb 8: The Opposition demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into 2G spectrum scam is likely to come true. The friction between the ruling and Opposition over the constitution of JPC rendered the winter session futile. In the fear of Parliament stalemate in Budget session the Congress-led UPA government on Tuesday, Feb 8 held an all-party meeting to troubleshoot the parliament impasse.

Sources said that the government seems to be agreeable to the idea of a Joint Parliamentary probe into the 2G scam. In Budget session, which starts on Feb 22, a firm motion on 2G will be moved in the house, and after a debate parliament will vote on whether to set up a JPC to probe the spectrum scam.

BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said, "The government and the opposition agree that parliament must run at all costs."
