FIR lodged against BSF men, investigation on

Shillong, Feb 8 (PTI) A minor and her parents havefiled an FIR against BSF men at Mendipathar police station inEast Garo district of Meghalaya alleging of an attempt to rapeher.

Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi told newsmen herethat as a sequel to the FIR registered yesterday, specificinstructions have been given for the presence of a femalemagistrate and female police personnel during the girl''sdeposition.

A 14-year-old girl, along with her friends had gone toThapa Dangre village to collect betel-nut when they wereallegedly confronted by a group of BSF personnel who put up apicket at Mendipathar on Sunday, locals said.

The Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) of Resubelpara hasinstructed the Officer In-Charge of the Mendipathar Policestation to prepare and submit a report on the matter andinvestigation is underway on the circumstances under which theallegation was made, Bakshi said.

The medical examination of the girl did not revealbruise or injury marks, he said.

Investigation was on and an inquiry report was awaited,he said.
