Decrease in turmeric sales In Erode:

Erode, Feb 7 (PTI) Sale of spot turmeric has decreasedsharply at the market here today despite wholesale tradersreceiving orders from lcoal market and north India.

""Local traders are expecting heavy arrival of turmericbefore the end of this month and expected slash in price, R VRavishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Associationsaid.

The price of local turmeric has shows an increase on Mondayby Rs 100 to Rs 150 per quintal, but in the Regulated Marketprices were increased by Rs 400 per quintal in finger varietyand Rs 330 per quintal in root variety due to local demands.

In the Erode Turmeric Merchants Sales Market, finger varietywas sold at Rs 8501 to Rs 12786 per quintal, root variety Rs8005 to Rs 12639 per quintal.

In Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, finger varietywas sold at Rs 10089 to Rs 10284 per quintal, root variety Rs8814 to Rs 9314 pr quintal. In Regulated Marketing Committee,finger variety was sold at Rs 12899 to Rs 13151 per quintal,root variety Rs 10125 to Rs 12696 per quintal.
