Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide

Yavatmal, Feb 7 (PTI) A debt-ridden farmer and his minorson ended their lives near here in Vidarbha region, policesaid today.

Sanjay Pandurang Nehare (35), a resident of Kalamb town,jumped into a well along with his 12-year-old son Vaibhav lastevening, they said.

According to Sub-Inspector Sunil Shukla, Nehare had sixacres of land and taken Rs 40,000 as loan from a co-operativecredit society affiliated to Yavatmal District CentralCo-operative Bank.

The failure of crops due to untimely rain and the loanburden reportedly forced the farmer to commit suicide, hesaid.

With this, four farmers have allegedly committed sinceFebruary 5 in Vidarbha.
