BJP not averse to electoral tie-up with AIADMK: Laxman
Madurai, Feb 8 (PTI) BJP today said it was not averse toa tie-up with AIADMK for coming Tamil Nadu assembly polls asit favoured a broad-based alliance to defeat ''corrupt forces''responsible for a series of scams and sharp price rise.
"As of now, we want to join hands with like-mindedparties...If AIADMK feels that the time is ripe to join us,they are welcome," senior party leader Bangaru Laxman, party''sincharge of election affairs in Tamil Nadu, told reportershere.
He, however, said BJP was prepared to go it alone if noone came forward for an alliance.
BJP, which had contested the last assembly and Lok Sabhapolls in the state alone drawing a blank, was making allefforts to make its effective presence in the state assembly.
"If AIADMK feels the time is ripe to join us, they arewelcome. Even if the Left is in alliance with AIADMK, we arenot going to contest in places where Left is contesting. So,there is no problem," he said.
He said alleged corruption in 2G spectrum allocation andprice rise during UPA rule would be key issues in theelections due in May.
Alleged diversion of the Scheduled Caste development fundsfor distribution of free Colour TVs and Re one a kg ricescheme and usurping of lands of SC people by influentialpersons would also be among other issues, he said.
He criticised the government for allowing export of sugarand onion though it was fully aware that the agriculturalproduction had dropped.
