Bandh in Somanur and nearby places

Coimbatore, Feb 7 (PTI) Almost all the shops and commercialestablishments in and around Somanur, about 30 KMs from here,downed their shutters to pay their homage to a couple, whowere murdered yesterday.

The powerloom unit owner and his wife were found murderedby slitting their throat in their house and valuableslooted, in the early hours of yesterday.

In response to the call given by Powerloom OwnersAssocition, nearly 2,000 powerloom units suspended operationstoday and all shops and commercial establishments in Somanurand nearby Karumathampatti downed their shutters, to exresstheir sorrow over the incident.

Meanwhile, police suspected the involvement of two workersin the unit in the murder, who were absconding after theincident, police said.
