AP BJP to protest against delay in release of student fees
Hyderabad, Feb 7 (PTI)BJP''s Andhra Pradesh unit wouldorganise sit-in across the state tomorrow protesting againstdelay in the release of funds for scholarships andreimbursement of fees of ecnomically backward students.
"The state government led by Chief Minister Kiran KumarReddy has failed to keep its promise and playing with thefuture of students by not making payment of scholarships andreimbursement of fees of BC, SC, ST and minority students,BJP state party president G Kishan Reddy told reporters here.
Reddy also alleged that the state government hasdiverted Rs 700 crore central funds meant for SC and STstudents.
Protesting against government''s attitude, a mass dharnawould be organised at Indira Park here and in all districtheadquarters tomorrow, he said.
Though the government had said Rs 3431 crore was neededin the year 2010-11 for the scholarship and reimbursement offees of poor students, it has given administrative sactiononly for Rs 865 crore and even that amount has not yet beenreleased, he said.
The BJP state president demanded the state governmentto release the funds immediately for the education year of2010-11 for the benefit of 24 lakh students.
