2 held for allegedly trying to rape minor

New Delhi, Feb 7 (PTI) Two young men were arrested inwest Delhi this morning for allegedly attempting to sexuallyassault a minor girl in a makeshift gymnasium at a publicpark.

The incident took place at Vikaspuri locality at around10 am and the girl, along with her brother, hailing fromShimla, was in the city to attend their grandmother''s funeral.

Dayanand (30), who works as a guard in the gym, andRinku (28), a cleaner, were arrested in connection with theincident, a senior police official said.

The children -- a ten-year-old boy and 12-year-oldgirl -- along with their parents had gone to the park inVikaspuri''s C block. While playing, they strayed into thegymnasium where they were allegedly assaulted by two men.

The incident came to light when the children did not meettheir parents at the exit gate of the park.

"During searches, the parents saw their son beingrestrained by Dayanand while Rinku was taking off the girl''sclothes," the official said.

The parents then raised an alarm and locals gatheredthere. They handed over the duo to police after beating themup.

A case of attempt to rape and forcible restraint has beenregistered against them.
