Sukhbir for equitable distribution of central funds
Ludhiana, Feb 6 (PTI) Punjab Deputy Chief MinisterSukhbir Singh Badal today appealed to the Centre to evolve aprogressive formula for equitable distribution of state''sshare in central taxes.
Talking to the reporters after prize distributionfunction of Quila Raipur Rural Games, Badal said that CentralGovernment should increase Punjab''s share from present 1.29per cent to minimum 50 per cent.
The Central government should be "indebted" to Punjabas it has made the country self-sufficient on food securityfront by contributing 70 per cent rice and 50 per cent wheatto the central pool, he said.
