Sugar drops on subdued demand

Mumbai, Feb 7 (PTI) Sugar prices dropped at the VashiWholesale market here today due to sluggish demand fromstockists and retailers amidst ample stock positions.

Small sugar quality (S-30) declined by Rs 9/30 perquintal to Rs 2,811/2,831 from last weekend''s closing levelof Rs 2,820/2,861.

Medium sugar quality (M-30) also slipped by Rs 10/21 perquintal to Rs 2,850/2,930, as against Rs 2,860/2,951 lastSaturday.

The following are today''s closing rates per quintal, withthe previous rates in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,811/2,831 (Rs 2,820/2,861) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,850/2,930(Rs 2,860/2,951).
