Sensex opens 127 pts higher

Mumbai, Feb 7 (PTI) The Sensex gained nearly 127 pointsin opening trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today asinvestors targeted fundamentally strong stocks available atattractive prices.

The 30-share BSE index rose by 126.87 points to 18,135.02in early trade today after shedding 441.16 points in theprevious session on Friday.

Similarly, the broad-based National Stock Exchange Niftyindex also moved up by 35.75 points to 5,431.50 points.

Brokers said the investor sentiment was boosted by freshbuying on the back of firming global trend.

In particular, IT and refinery sectors available atattractive lower levels garnered a lot of investor interest.

Meanwhile, Japan''s Nikkei index rose by 0.69 per cent inearly trade today. In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Averageended 0.25 per cent higher in the last session on Friday. PTIRS SUN KPS ARV
