SDPO beaten up

Tamluk(WB), Feb 6 (PTI) The Sub-Divisional Police Officerof Haldia M Chakraborty was beaten up by some youths when hetried to arrest them for forcibly collecting money fromvehicles at Sutahata more in Purba Midnapore district today,police sources said.

The SDPO was going to Tamluk from Haldia when he foundsome youths forcibly collecting money from vehicles atSutahata more, the sources said.

When the SDPO tried to caught hold of the youths, he wasbeaten up by them, they said adding that he suffered minorinjuries in the incident.

The youths were stopping vehicles passing throughSutahata more and forcibly collecting money from them for theSaraswati puja which will held on February 8.
