J&K suspends four officials in ration scam, probe ordered
Jammu, Feb 6 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir government todaysuspended four officials in connection with an alleged rationscam in Kathua district and ordered a probe into it.
"Following complaints of pilferage of ration meant forBelow Poverty Line (BPL) families of Billawar and Bani tehsilsof Kathua district, the Department of Consumer Affairs andPublic Distribution (CA&PD) has put Tehsil Supply OfficersBillawar and Bani and Store Keepers, Food Stores Bilawar andBani under suspension," a CAPD official said here.
"This is to ensure impartially in the inquiry ordered bythe Minister for CA&PD by a committee comprising two DeputyDirectors of the Department," he said.
The Committee has also been directed to look into therole of the Assistant Director, CA&PD, Kathua and theDepartmental Supervisor of FCI, Kathua in the matter.
The committee has been directed to ascertain the failureof the department officials in adhering to the instructions ofengaging vehicles only through SRTC, the official said.
The probe panel has been directed to furnish its reportwithin one week.
Police yesterday recovered 620 bag of wheat and seizedthree trucks carrying supplies of Food Corporation of India(FCI) at a local flour mill.
