2 arrested for kidnap of couple

Tuticorin, Feb 6 (PTI): Two persons who allegedlykidnapped a scrap dealer and his girlfriend from the citynear Kallikudi in Madurai District on January 30 have beenarrested, police said.

They said the two, who were arrested at Tiruapptur inVellore district, had confessed to the crime as the man had topay pay them Rs three lakh for an article he purchased.

The car used for the kidnap has also been seized.

The couple were on their way to Chennai with some otherswhen they were kidnapped. the others managed to escape. Theywere let off at Mathur in Tiruchirapalli district after astrong warning.

Three others involved in the kidnap are absconding, policesaid.

Police launched a hunt for the gang following acomplaint from the scrap dealer''s wife.
