Yemen starts trial for 10 al-Qaida militants
SANAA: A Yemeni security court on Sunday started the trial of ten al-Qaida militants, including a Syrian national, accused of plotting attacks on domestic military forces and foreign companies, state-run Saba news agency reported.
Prosecutors said the defendants were involved in an armed gang during 2005-2010 to commit criminal acts targeting military, security and government leaders, diplomats and foreign companies in Yemen.
Two of the defendants are accused of causing an explosion at the headquarters of Canadian Nexen Company in Sanaa in 2008. There were no casualties in the bombing.
The court set the next hearing on February 7.
