Ind-Pak talk: Cautious optimism to break deadlock?
Before the talk with Pakistan foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Indian foreign secretary Nirupama Rao stated, "We are trying to see how we can take the dialogue process forward."
We need to go into this round with reasonable expectations and try to see how a graduated yet forward-looking approach would work. We are cautiously optimistic," added Rao in Thimpu on Feb 5.
After the talk between the two countries in Islamabad in Jul 2010, India-Pakistan has not moved forward with their diplomatic talks. So, today's (Feb 6) talk is expected to have a major impact on the relation of the two countries.
However, sources from Indian foreign ministries stated, "one meeting will not suddenly lead to the solution of all issues. But it would help pave the way for solutions."
"We are hoping Pakistan would approach the talks with the same spirit," they added.
