JK takes steps to promote tourism in Poonch, Rajouri
Jammu, Feb 5 (PTI) In a bid to boost the economy of Poonchand Rajouri, the Jammu and Kashmir government today said ithas taken various steps to explore the tourism potential ofthe border districts.
"An amount of Rs 8.45 crore has been given for developmentand creation of tourism infrastructure in Rajouri," Ministerfor Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora said here after ameeting with tourism development authorities of the twodistricts.
He also emphasised on involvement of locals in theexecution of development works.
Jora said the government has also sought Rs 22.84 crorefrom the Centre under the destination development scheme forpromoting tourism in both the areas.
He said the second phase of conservation and restorationwork of Poonch Fort will be taken up, once the Centre gave itsnod.
