Jaya slams TN interim budget
Chennai, Feb 5 (PTI) AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa todaylashed out at DMK government''s interim budget, saying ithad no provisions to mitigate price-rise and address the powercut situation.
The interim budget, presented today, did not put the stateon the path of growth through development schemes, she said ina statement here.
"In the budget presented last year, the fiscal deficitestimates for 2010-11 was put at Rs 16,222.13 crore whiletoday''s interim budget for 2011-12 said it will increase to Rs17,607.71 crore. Outstanding debts is estimated to increase toRs 1,01,541 crore as on March 31, 2011. These are the fiveyear achievements of the government," she said.
Instead of spelling out measures to control prices, whichshe said had affected the people, only the reasons forprice-rise had been mentioned.
"Last year, a 1400 mw capacity addition was mentioned onthe power front. No mention has been made about this year.
This shows power cut will continue this year also."
Jayalalithaa said no concrete steps were announced tocounter Kerala''s announcement on going ahead with the works ona new dam across Mullaperiyar this year itself, or a nationallevel common entrance test for medical courses.
"This shows that the government is least bothered aboutestablishing the rights of Tamils," she said.
