India to use indigenous paper and ink in currency notes

Murshidabad (WB), Feb 5 (PTI) To counter the menace offake currency notes, the government will soon start usingindigenous paper and ink, Union Finance Minister PranabMukherjee said today.

"So far, we have been using foreign paper and ink. Butnow, we will start making our own paper and ink to controlfake currency notes," Mukherjee told reporters here.

On PDS system, he alleged the state''s Left Frontgovernment has handled the distribution of essentialcommodities in an improper way.

Asked about Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee''sstatement against the Centre on rising corruption cases in thecountry, the veteran Congress leader said everyone says suchthings ahead of elections.

"The Left Front government have not been able tohandle things in their state. But we have always been againstcorruption and are still fighting against it," Mukherjee said.
