School clerk killed by Maoists
Jhargram (WB), Feb 04 (PTI) The clerk of a school andlocal CPI-M leader was shot dead this afternoon by suspectedMaoists at Nayagram in Maoist-hit West Midnapore district.
The police said Baidyanath Jana, a clerk ofChamarbandh High School of Nayagram was killed when four armedyouths shot him from close range beside a jungle as he waswaiting for a bus after the school.
A resident of nearby Uparpathia village, Jana wasstaying outside home for the past one year since Maoists tookcontrol of the area.
He would come to the school occasionally, the policesaid.
Jana died on the spot, sources said.
He was two-time pradhan of Patina gram panchayat. PTICOR AMD
