Presidential elections in Kazakhstan slated for April 3
Astana(Kazakhstan), Feb 5(Itar-Tass) The presidentialelections of Kazakhstan will be held on April 3, Kazakh leaderNursultan Nazarbayev has said.
"In accordance with Point 3-1 of Article 41 of theConstitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, I decree to callearly presidential elections for April 3, 2011," he saidwhile signing a decree to this effect yesterday.
The country''s government must organise the elections,and heads of regions must ensure timely compiling of lists ofvoters and provide assistance to the Central ElectionCommission to organise and hold the vote, he said.
The Kazakh opposition has already stated the readinessto nominate a single candidate to oppose Nazarbayev in theearly elections. (Itar-Tass)
