Police arrest three dacoits in attempted robbery case

Ghaziabad, Feb 5 (PTI) Three members of a gang, who hadmade a botched bid to loot a bank in Modi Nagar area of thecity have been arrested, police said today.

"All the three have confessed to their crime to police,"Station House Officer at Modi Nagar police station, YogeshPathak said, adding, two members of the gang are still atlarge.

While the mastermind of the plot Harish, a local fromBegamabad area, was arrested yesterday, two of his aides werenabbed today.

"Three of the five accused had gone inside the chamber ofthe manager of Vijaya bank on February 2 under pretext ofprocuring bank loan while the two others overpowered thecashier at the counter," the SHO said.

However, the bid to rob the bank failed as the customerspresent in the bank and a security guard on duty raised analarm. All the accused managed to escape after assaulting thesecurity guard.

A local has remanded all the accused to police custody.
