Journalists beaten up at brick field

Krishnagar (WB), Feb 04 (PTI) A team of journalistsand cameramen were today allegedly locked and beaten up in abrick field when they went to cover the illegal digging ofearth from agricultural field at Shantipur in Nadia district.

The police later rescued the team of journalists fromthe brick field of Guptipara in Shantipur, officials said.

They were admitted to a local hospital.

The locals had written to Pollution Control Board on10 June last year that digging of soil from the fields werecausing havoc in the farmlands, the police said.
