Youth's killing sparks protest in Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 5: Kashmir is on the boil again as thousands took to the streets on Feb 5 to protest the killing of a student soldiers. The protests have raised fears of a revival of anti-India uprisings of 2010.

The army admitted to the killing of the student and said that the he walked into an ambush laid for the separatist militants and tried to run away when confronted.

The student was a 22-year old youth named Manzoor Magray. His relatives allege that he was killed in "cold-blood". Nearly 2500 angry protesters took out a procession holding aloft the deceased student's body.

More than a 100 people were killed in 2010's anti-India protest in Kashmir. And after the concerted efforts of the state and Central government, the Kashmir Valley has been relatively peaceful in 2011.
