Himachal gets respite from cold wave

Shimla, Feb 5 (PTI) People of Himachal Pradesh gotsome respite today from the cold conditions as mercurycontinued its upward trend and stayed three to 12 degreesabove normal.

Capital Shimla recorded a minimum of 9.1 deg C, eightdegrees above normal, while Nahan and Palampur recorded 12.9deg C and 12.5 deg C, respectively.

In mid and lower hills, the night temperature rose bythree to five degrees with Mandi, Bhuntar, Una and Sundernagarrecorded 9.8 deg C, 9.2 deg C, 8.4 deg C and 8.2 deg C,respectively.

The minimum rose significantly in tribal areas alsowith Kalpa and Keylong in Kinnaur-Lahaul and Spiti districtsrecording 2 deg C and minus 6.2 deg C, four degrees abovenormal.

The capital was also warmer during the day with themaximum temperature at 21.0 deg C, 11.8 degrees above normalwhile Solan, Mandi and Sundernagar recorded a high of 25.5 degC, 24.8 deg C and 24.5 deg C, respectively.

In Una, both Bhuntar and Nahan recorded 22.5 deg C.

In tribal areas, Udaipur and Lahaul received anotherspell of mild snowfall while Saloni, Manali and Nurpurwitnessed mild rains.

The sky remained overcast in the region and the Metoffice has predicted snow or rain at isolated places in lowerand higher hills in the next 48 hours.
