Govt to procure tur dal at Rs 4,000 per quintal
Bangalore, Feb 4 (PTI): Karnataka Government todaydecided to procure tur dal at Rs 4,000 per quintal to helpfarmers hit by crash in prices.
A meeting chaired by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa todiscuss the issue of fall in prices of tur dal and agitationby growers in Jewargi in Gulbarga district decided to fix theprocurement price at Rs 4,000 per quintal.
Briefing the press, Minister for Water Resources BasavarajBommai said the procurement of the produce would be donethrough the state tur dal board.
He appealed to growers, who are on an indefinite dharna inJewargi, to call off the stir and promised them that thegovernment would also write to the Centre seeking itsintervention to help farmers.
