Gandhi visits her constituency, meets locals
Rae Bareli, Feb 4 (PTI) Congress president SoniaGandhi today inaugurated several projects, visited villagesand met people listening to their grievances on day one of hertwo-day visit to her Lok Sabha constituency.
Gandhi started her tour opening a newly-constructedPanchayat building at Lalganj where she also interacted withlocals.
From there, she went to the residence of Congressleader Upendra Singh, who passed away recently, and met thebereaved family, party sources said.
Gandhi later inaugurated a newly-constructedDharmshala (Guest House) contructed by the India TourismDevelopment Corporation at Dalmau.
She visited the house of MLA Ashok Singh in Tejvillage where a marriage function is scheduled tomorrow.
On way to Maharajganj, the Congress chief visited anumber of villages including Barara, Parsa, Ghanghana andDevanpur, and interacted with the people.
Locals complained about inadequate power and watersupply and narrated their problems to her, the sources said.
Gandhi also visited the residence of another leaderIrshad Ahmad who died recently.
She also paid obeisance at a temple in Mateenganjvillage, the sources said.
