CBI raids in multi-crore foodgrains scam in UP
Sitapur, Feb 5 (PTI) The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) today conducted raids at several places here, includingthe house and office of a local BSP leader, in connection witha multi-crore foodgrains scam.
The CBI officials have collected several documents andpapers and claimed to have got substantial evidence relatingto the alleged scam under which foodgrains meant for the poorwere diverted to other states and sold in retail market.
The essentials also found its way out of the countrythough in the government records, the stocks were shown asdistributed among the needy.
The raids were conducted at six places in the district,officials said.
Last year, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Courton a public interest litigation had directed the centralagency to carry out a comprehensive probe into the scamspanning several districts of the state.
