BDO lodges FIR against Cong MLA

Hazaribagh (Jharkhand), Feb 4 (PTI) A blockdevelopment officer today lodged an FIR against a MLA ofCongress for allegedly beating him up with his supporters atKeredari Chowk of Jharkhand.

Congress''s Barkagaon MLA Yogendra Sao denied thecharge saying, "Locals beat him for taking bribe towardsrelease of money against an irrigation project."

According to Hazaribagh sadar Sub-divisional Officer,Binay Kumar Rai, BDO had lodged an FIR accusing Sao and twoof his supporters, who are contractors, of stopping hisvehicle and severely beating him up with sticks while he wasgoing to attend a gram sabha meeting.

The BDO was admitted to a hospital with injuries, theSDO said.

In the FIR, BDO alleged that Sao had threatened him ofdire consequence if payment of an �unfinished� project,allotted to the two contractors, was not made at the earliest.

The payment of the project to construct an irrigationchannel from Keredari to Pagar More was held up due tonon-completion of work, the BDO claimed in the FIR.

Denying the charge, MLA told newsmen that it was thelocal people who had beaten him up for allegedly demanding Rs20,000 from the two contractors, Khirodhar Sao and JageshwarSao, for clearance of the payment.
