Undertrial prisoner escapes from Sundargarh

Rourkela, Feb 4 (PTI) An undertrial prisioner (utp) ofSundargarh district jail, about 110 km from here, has escaped,police said today.

Purnachandra Jaipuria escaped from the courtpremises in the evening after he was produced before ajudicial court and was returning to jail custody, sources saidadding that there appeared to be a lapse in security by theescort police party.

The fact came to light when a headcount of theprisoners was taken inside the prison by the jail staffand Jaipuria ws found missing, police said.

Jaipuria was earlier arrested in connection with amurder case in his village under Himgiri police station inSundargarh district.

Police search was on. No action has been taken yestagainst the escoring party.
