Unclaimed money found to be fake

Suri(WB), Feb 3 (PTI) The unclaimed money of the facevalue of Rs 1.05 lakh which was found after the Uttarbangaexpress and Bananchal express train accident at Sainthia onJuly 19 was today found to be fake, police sources said.

During the rescue operation after the train accident,two youths who took part in the rescue operation found bundleof notes of the face value of Rs 1.05 lakh and handed it overto the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Saithia, they said.

As nobody claimed the money within six months the GRPdecided to deposit it in the government account following theorder from Rampurhat court.

Today two GRP officers went to the Rampurhat branch ofthe SBI to deposit the money.

But the bank officials during checking found that thenotes were counterfeit and handed it to the police, thesources added.
