SSC to recruit 53,200 para-military constables
Mumbai, Feb 4 (PTI) The Staff Selection Commission(SSC) will recruit 53,200 constables for Central para-militaryforces through a common recruitment examination, SSC ChairmanN K Raghupathy said here today.
This is the first time that the Government hasdecided to conduct a common recruitment examination forrecruitment of Constable (General Duty) in all the CentralPara-military Organizations (CPOs), through Staff SelectionCommission. Earlier, the respective CPOs used to makerecruitment of Constables (GD) on their own.
Ministry of Home Affairs has intimated about 49,070tentative vacancies of Constables (General Duty) collectively,in BSF, CISF, CRPF and SSB for which a written test will beheld on June 5 for candidates qualifying in physicalstandard/physical efficiency test and about 5000 vacancies aretentatively available in ITBP and Assam Rifles for whichwritten examination will be held on May 1.
Raghupathy said the total vacancies may reach 80,000by the time of written examinations. The vacancies have beenallocated Union Territory/state-wise in CPO to be filled bycandidates domiciled in the state/UT.
Separate vacancies have been reserved for BorderDistricts and Naxalite/Militancy affected areas in differentStates/UTs.
The entire recruitment is scheduled to be completed insix months for Assam Rifles and ITBP and in nine months forother CPOs, Raghupathy said. If the number of personsrecruited from a state were less than the quota allotted toit, the same could be filled by candidates from other statesafter approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs, he added.
