Rs 1.74 lakh looted from PNB branch

Supaul (Bihar), Feb 3 (PTI) Armed criminals todaylooted Rs 1.74 lakh from a branch of Punjab National Bank(PNB) at Chhatapur in Bihar''s Supaul district.

Around ten persons entered the bank and hit the branchmanager C M Chadhary and another person with the butt of theirguns for putting up resistance before looting the money fromthe cash counter, sources said.

They fired in the air to scare the bank employees andcustomers before fleeing from the spot, the police said.

The bank official later lodged an FIR with Chhatapurpolice station.
