Policeman suspended, probe ordered in minor handcuffing case

Greater Noida, Feb 3 (PTI) A police officer was todaysuspended and a probe ordered into an incident of allegedillegal detention and handcuffing of a minor boy here thisweek.

Police sources said Senior Superintendent of PoliceAmitabh Yash suspended Kakode Station House Officer N R Pawarand ordered an inquiry into the incident.

A month ago, villagers had nabbed an alleged thief namedKishan at Bulandshahar and handed him over to police. He hadnamed his two accomplices as Tinku and Bijendra, sources said.

Police in an effort to put pressure on them to surrenderhad allegedly detained Tinku''s minor brother three days agoand hand-cuffed him, the sources said adding, during afarmers'' protest when mediapersons happened to visit thepolice station, the alleged illegal detention was detected.

Police had then released the boy.
