Kamat assures probe into blackouts of Goa House proceedings

Panaji, Feb 4 (PTI) Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamattoday said he will ask the state police to probe into the"planned blackouts" of live transmission proceedings of theState Assembly session by cable operators.

"A delegation of cable TV news channels had met me onThursday informing me about the purposeful blackouts by cableoperators during live coverage of Assembly session," Kamatinformed the state Legislative Assembly here.

During ''Zero Hour'', Speaker Pratapsingh Rane, had askedChief Minister to initiate probe through police in thisregard.

"The cables of the media are being cut by somemiscreants. The people should be seeing what their MLAs aredoing in the house. Why are miscreants cutting cables ? Sendthe police there and check it," he said.

Earlier, opposition benches had alleged that certainpolitically motivated cable operators were snapping the wireswhen crucial discussions were going on in the assembly.

Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar had said that thiswas an attempt to ensure that criticism against government isnot heard by the people.
