J&K Assembly panel for strict enforcement of ban on polythene

Jammu, Feb 3 (PTI) The Environmental Committee ofthe Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly has directed astrict ban on polythene bags in the state and stressed uponlaunching a public awareness campaign to educate people aboutthe hazards of using polythene.

The Committee under the chairmanship of MLA SaifullaMir, has also asked the concerned authorities to modernise thegarbage dumping system and implement the pollution controlrules strictly in the state.

The chairman also asked the officers of the municipalcorporations of Jammu and Srinagar cities to increase thegreen cover in their areas.
